I am very blessed to have a home that is often filled with music. Greg started off as a music major in college, but eventually changed his mind and pursued dentistry. His love for music remains, and that has been passed on to our children.
Since the time he was tiny, we knew that Jordan would be a musician. At nine months old, he would often rock back and forth on his hands and knees, perfectly in time with music. When he was old enough to sit up, he would sit at the piano and “play” for hours. By age four, he was playing music that he would hear at church and on the radio by ear, adding his own chords and instinctively knowing what sounded good and what did not. It is not a surprise to us that piano is now his passion. He plays when he is happy, when he is stressed, and when he is looking for solace. Although the other kids play the piano also, they do it because we “make” them. Jordan does it because he LOVES it. He studies classical piano, but also loves to arrange his own music.
I love all of his music, but one of my absolute favorite songs that he plays from time to time is “All Creatures of Our God and King.” With today being Easter, I asked him if he would make a recording of that song that I could share with all of you. Although it is not technically an “Easter” song, I think it fits in perfectly with what we are celebrating today. For me, this song is all about rejoicing in the goodness of God. When I hear it, I feel peace, joy, and gratitude for all that the Lord has done for me. Today, I am reflecting on the gift of His son, who willingly came to Earth to atone for MY sins and MY shortcomings. And, as if that was not enough, he then gave up his life and rose again, showing us that death is not the end – that we will all live again. We have much to rejoice in today – and everyday!
