While we are fairly conservative about most things, our curfew policy is quite liberal. It allows our teenagers a great deal of freedom, but also teaches them about responsibility.
Our goal is to have our teens prepared to independently manage all aspects of their lives by the time they graduate from high school. We believe that allowing them to set their own curfew is part of the training process for responsible decision-making. So far, it has worked like a charm. In fact, they often set earlier curfews for themselves than we would set for them.
Listen in to hear exactly how we manage the balance between freedom and responsibility as it relates to curfew. You can do that right here or on Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Stitcher, Spotify, and iHeartRadio
CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK:
Assess your curfew policy. Is there any way you could tweak it to allow your teenager more freedom and more responsibility? If so, consider making adjustments to support your child’s growing independence.
